Welcome to the Corsica-Stickney school counseling page. My name is Stephanie Slaba and this is my fourth year with the Corsica-Stickney School District. Prior to coming to Corsica-Stickney, I enjoyed the role of elementary counselor at the West Central School District. There I served approximately 675 students every year.
For those of you that I haven't had the opportunity to meet, I will share a little information about myself. I grew up in Brookings, but my family moved to Sioux Falls where I attended High School, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1997. After receiving my undergraduate degree I worked at Volunteers of America, Dakotas working with 11-17 year olds in a chemical dependency treatment program for 3 years. I went onto Avera Mckennan Behavioral Health for 4 years working with all ages. I have worked with Volunteers of America, Dakotas Youth Link Program as a Youth Link Teacher at Patrick Henry Middle School in Sioux Falls.
I received my BS degree from South Dakota State University in 2001 and my MS in Counseling and Human Resource Development from South Dakota State University in 2008. I am both a state and national certified counselor.
I have been married to my husband Bruce for 12 years. My husband grew up nearby in Geddes, which is what has brought us to this area where he farms. We have an 10 year old daughter Delanie, a 7 year old son Raleigh, and dog named Milo.
